ChezJosephine is a charming bed and breakfast conveniently situated in central Nice on the Boulevard Raimbaldi, an attractive avenue lined with trees, just a few minutes walk from the main SNCF train station, the Gare Thiers. Most of the buildings in this area are of the bourgeois style of architecture with beautiful carved stone facades and wrought iron balconies. The interior, while modernised, retains the space and light of the original apartment, with its high ceilings, large windows, traditional oak wood floors & antique furniture. Chez Josephine is located on the first floor of the building, and there is an elevator.
Fifty metres from ChezJosephine, you can catch a tram on the Avenue Jean Medécin and in just five minutes you will find yourself at one of the many beaches which line the beautiful Bay of Angels on the Promenade des Anglais. Or in Vieux Nice, the historic and picturesque old town with its famous fruit and flower market. This open air market is open every morning except Monday, when it becomes an antique market selling everything from vintage posters to farm implements. The marketplace is surrounded by cafes, bars and restaurants, and is perfect at any time of the day for eating, drinking and people watching. The Mediterranean sea is 50 meters from the main market square.
Instead of taking the tram you can walk there in 15-20 minutes, along the main shopping street of Nice, the Avenue Jean Médecin, now a mostly pedestrian zone except for the tram line, passing by Notre Dame Cathedral and the wide open spaces of the Place Masséna. On both sides of the Place Masséna is the Promenade du Paillon separates the new town from the old with its fabulous fountains & water features, gardens & children’s play park. Once across the Place Masséna, you are in Vieux Nice, whose narrow winding streets are full of fascinating shops and restaurants specializing in all things Niçoise.
I will be happy to recommend my favourite shops and restaurants and to give you tips on your excursions both in Nice and the surrounding areas. It is my pleasure to make your stay as interesting as you want to make it, whether you are here for just a couple of days or longer.
